Geoffrey Robinson, born 1945, attended Bournemouth College of Art, in the 60s. His professional painting career began in 1990 at a seminal moment, after many months spent filming and editing a video documentary on the eminent artist Gillian Ayres. With her encouragement and the legacy of the St Ives School for his initial inspiration, he immediately set out to paint with his own voice.
In 2001 he was selected as an ‘Invited Artist’ at The Discerning Eye exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. In 2004 he and his work became the subject for a half-hour television documentary. Over the years his work has been exhibited widely, at galleries and art fairs in England as well as in prominent galleries in Belfast and New Zealand.
